This double album offers on the first album (track 1 - 10) my own solo piano variations of clearely defined, traditional Advent songs, and on the second album (track 11 - 19) my favorite selection of clearely defined Christmas songs! I have been sticking here to the original procedure of the church liturgy, which makes a clear distinction between songs for the Advent time, longing for the birth of the Messia, and songs for the Christmas time, which in fact starts on Dec. 24th. and cheerishes the birth of Jesus. For me it was interesting to feel and interpret these two slightly different moods in the songs, though in the end I feel the beauty of these timeless melodies gives the freedom to hear these songs at every time you want, especially in these pure solo piano versions!


Das hier vorliegende Doppel Album enthält eine Sammlung meiner Lieblingslieder für die Weihnachts- und Vor-Weihnachtszeit, wobei ich mich dabei an die ursprüngliche, heute etwas verlorengegangene Unterscheidung in Adventlieder und Weihnachtslieder gehalten habe.
Thematisch besteht ja der Unterschied darin, dass die Adventlieder, oftmals mit Bezug zum Alten Testament, die Sehnsucht nach der Ankunft des verheißenen Messias und die Vorfreude auf das kommende Weihnachtsfest ausdrücken, während die Weihnachtslieder inhaltlich die Geburt Jesu Christi feiern, und in der kirchlichen Liturgie eigentlich ja erst ab dem
24. Dezember bis 6. Jänner zum Einsatz kommen. Für mich war es interessant diesen unterschiedlichen Ansatz
musikalisch zu erfassen, was aber natürlich nicht heißen soll, dass sich nun jeder streng an diese Trennung halten muss. Ganz im Gegenteil, ich denke dass beide Alben in meiner Bearbeitung für Solo Piano in dieser Form für den gesamten Weihnachtsfestkreis geeignet sind, und vielleicht sogar darüber hinaus - einfach auch aus Freude über die zeitlos schönen Melodien!

This is the third solo piano album in the "Scapes" series, following my 2015 released "Landscapes" and 2016 released "Dreamscapes" album. All songs were again written and performed by myself, and recorded on my refurbished old Euterpe piano at home, This time, the 10 very neo-classical songs cruise thematically around the element "Water" and it's inhabitants in various forms.
